The State of Wyoming Just Chose Tyranny Over Liberty
How the Empire is Striking Back Against the People
Yesterday, on February 27, 2023 the House of Representatives in the Wyoming State Legislature chose fear over action; tyranny over liberty; business as usual. Before the members of the Wyoming House was a bill that would count on Wyoming to be part of the solution to the Constitutional Crisis presently before the country. It would have provided Wyoming with a chance to help reign in the Federal government with it’s out of control spending and burdensoome regulations - a government that is currently drunk with power. It would have given Wyoming a voice in the Convention where crafting a set of solutions would benefit the people of Wyoming.
Specifically, the bill, known as SJ0011, was the State’s application to call a Convention of States, which is a convention to propose Constitutional Amendments. It failed a floor vote of 21-41, despite having already passed the Wyoming Senate. It takes 34 States to call such a convention and any Amendments which are produced by a convention require ratification by 38 state legislaures.
It is NOT a Constitutional Convention.
It will NOT rewrite the Constitution.
It will NOT Repeal the Second Amendment.
To state the contrary to the above three statements is to LIE!
Members of the Wyoming House showed either an industrial grade ignorance or a blatant, intellectually dishonest attitude towards the bill, attacking it with acute mischaracterizations and outright lies about it. Even one of the co-sponsors of the bill blatantly ignored the text of the bill and voted against it. The level of fear mongering on the floor of the Wyoming House was apalling.
One Representative stated that they “haven’t even tried” to address the issues with the Federal Government and that this bill wasn’t the right course of action. Another stated that “we need to act within the confines of the Constitution.”
Article V IS in the Constitution!!
How can these “legislators” not know what’s in the Constitution?! How can they be SO ignorant?! The vote against this bill was a vote to kick the can down the road. The deliberate mischaracterization of the bill indicates the choice of these legislators to side with the tyranny of the Federal Government. These individuals chose last night to do nothing in the face of the problems we have as a country. They chose to continue the destruction of the Republic’s future. They chose tyranny over liberty!
This writer is both angry and sad over the refusal by the House of Representatives in the Wyoming Legislature to act in the State’s own and the rest of the country’s best interest. This writer is also offended by the attempt to take the voters and constituents of Wyoming as fools. Lying out of ignorance, omission or deliberation is still lying and lying to constituents should be reason enough to disqualify an individual from serving in public office.
So what’s next? In simple terms, the work continues. If you’re reading this and you live in the State of Wyoming, then contact your legislators and tell them to support the Convention of States resolution and to reintroduce the bill for another vote. Tell them to pass the bill. If you live in another state, then contact your own legislators and tell them to support your state’s Convention of States resolution. Educate them on the Article V process if need be. Your legislators need to hear from you. You are the starting point of change.
