For Immediate Release
Dear Young Americans,
I write to you today because the United States has reached a critical stage in it’s history. You represent the future of this country and what we do right now as a nation determines where we go from here. There’s a number of problems we face together including but not limited to a failing currency, societal decay and unrest, government corruption, and an invasion on the southern border.
I believe these problems can be overcome and that we can do it together. In order for us to do that, and essentially save our country, you must realize the serious nature of the problems and become active and engaged to find and execute solutions. Furthermore, the opportunity to prevent extreme hardship and suffering for our people is now. Americans are some of the hardest working people in the world but if there’s a workaround, leave it to someone in America to find it. Unfortunately, these problems don’t have a workaround. They have to be tackled head on.
That’s why we must work together. No problem is too great for us, so long as we work with one another as a team. I invite you to work with me and others like me. We were young once too. We have memories of how things used to be. Things were good then. We’d like them to be good for you too.
I’m going to make some suggestions. Look at them as a call to action to immediately execute yourselves or to come up with your own. I would first like you to begin by locating and connecting with like minded individuals in your age group. Make sure they can be trusted. Next, establish meeting times and places and then set up a way to communicate with one another. Develop a list of goals you want to achieve. Next, locate other groups of individuals with a stake in the country’s future, such as church organizations, veteran’s groups or other nonprofit groups. You can work periodically with these groups to achieve your goals.
Here’s a hypothetical example of how to to do this: your state legislature is considering an election reform bill and your group decides to start a letter writing campaign to get the bill passed into law. Your group meets and sends letters to all the legislators urging them to vote for the bill. In addition, your group gets other community groups to do the same thing. The legislators get the mountain of letters and cave to the pressure. They vote to pass the bill.
It’s an ideal example but letter writing is really effective because it carries a lot of weight. It signals to legislators that someone took the time out of their day to write and mail a physical document. Plus the strategy actually works. Consider using this tool for yourselves. As you organize and bring people together you will think of other strategies to execute, but as long as you stick to it you will be successful.
As time ticks on into the future, the storm draws nearer. I have faith that we will survive the coming storm but we can take steps now to improve our circumstances coming out on the other side. If the older people in your life aren’t concerned with the future, lovingly urge them to take a look at how they could become more involved. Let them know that you want to make a difference and ask them to help. If, on the other hand, they are already doing something that will have an impact, ask them how you can help. After all, some day you will inherit this country.
By the way, I’m sorry it isn’t better now. We can go into the details about why that is sometime later. We need to focus on first things first and the first step to bringing about change is recognizing the problem. Once we can do that, we can then organize ourselves to discuss actionable solutions.
Don’t forget that the wonderful part of the American system is that it can be adjusted and improved. All it takes is We The People. We just have to believe in our country and ourselves. The American Dream isn’t dead as long as we believe in it. I still believe in it. Do you?
Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen from Generation X
